End October 2013 and a delegation of 50 handicapped children and youth, together with a team of 30 Haverim staff, made their way to the magical island of Crete.
For many of the children, this was their first time abroad, and the first time in a plane.
Many of the families of handicapped children confront financial hardship, making it impossible for them to leave on vacations in Israel, not to mention abroad.
The Haverim teamed took upon themselves to award the children an unforgettable experience of five days in Greece. The group stayed at a 5-star hotel near the beach and went on day trips to the local market andto the old city and even on a boat trip, spending many hours of fun together!
The team of volunteers, all aged 18-24, took time off from their routines to help children with unique challenges to smile, laugh, have fun and return sunburned and happy to Israel. During the trip, the delegation's Chef pampered them all with tasy and kosher meals.
For chidren who are usually confined to a wheelchair, and to an existance of round-the-clock medication and shots, loneliness at home and routine - this trip was a special and unforgettable expeirence.
